Which Vaccines Do Dogs Need?

According to the American Kennel Club, the generally accepted guidelines of puppy vaccination are as follows:

Puppy (6-8 weeks):  Distemper, measles, parainfluenza [Optional: Bordetella]

Puppy (10-12 weeks): DHPP (vaccines for distemper, adenovirus [hepatitis], parainfluenza, and parvovirus) [Optional:  Coronavirus, Leptospirosis, Bordetella, Lyme disease]

Puppy (12-24 weeks):  Rabies

Puppy (14-16 weeks): DHPP [Optional:  Coronavirus, Lyme disease, Leptospirosis]

Puppy (12-16 months): Rabies, DHPP [Optional:  Coronavirus, Leptotspirosis, Bordetella, Lyme disease]

Puppy (Every 1-2 years): DHPP [Optional:  Coronavirus, Leptotspirosis, Bordetella, Lyme disease]

Puppy-Adult Dog (Every 1-3 years):  Rabies, Distemper [Optional:  Bordetella, Lyme disease, Leptospirosis]

Which Vaccines Do Cats Need?

The American Association of Feline Practitioners’ (AAFP) recommends the following vaccines for cats:

Feline panleukopenia (FPV)

Feline herpesvirus-1 (FHV-1)

Feline calicivirus (FCV)

Rabies
